ABOUT US

Smash My Trash Oakland/East Bay owner Dan Auker is a proud Oakland native and graduate of Oakland Public Schools. It has always been Dan’s dream to operate a green business and create high-quality environmental jobs in his hometown. After 25 years in the corporate world, Dan finally found a great business with Smash My Trash.

“After just 15 months of operations, Smash My Trash Oakland is eliminating more than 200 tons of greenhouse gas emissions every year.”

Our service is reducing traffic on Oakland’s roads, reducing wear and tear on our local infrastructure, and reducing the amount of space taken up by trash in area landfills. We are proud to be doing our part to help Alameda County meet its Zero Waste program goals.

The Smash My Trash Oakland team loves working with other mission-driven organizations such as Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department Activities League.

Dan Auker

Owner

Dan is a proud Oakland native and alum of Oakland Public Schools (Skyline ’85) and Cal Berkeley (’90). After 25 years in the corporate world, Dan is realizing his dream of starting and operating a green business in his hometown.

Chris Beam

Director of Customer Success

Chris is an Oakland native and OUSD alumni (Skyline ’89). He received his BA from San Francisco State University. Chris has been involved in the local business and social community his entire life. Chris has been a top sales professional for more than a decade.

Alex Henry

Smash Operator

Alex (or “Big Al,” as his friends know him) grew up and still lives in the East Bay. Alex is an expert smash operator and has successfully completed thousands of smashes. Alex has been driving commercial vehicles for more than five years after nearly two decades in the hospitality industry. His focus on safety, efficiency and customer service makes him the perfect guy for the job.
